Location: Edinburgh or Bristol, UK - Hybrid Remote
Contract: Permanent, full time
Salary: Up to £27k if you have all the skills and experience we are looking for

The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Social Media Executive to join our team in either Bristol or Edinburgh.
This role will be working within our marketing team at Vaarst to be at the forefront of our plotting our media journey and showcasing our brand stories and development via our social channels.
A qualified marketing communications, journalist or creative writing executive with experience in social media content creation, you will put your skills to great use overseeing our companies presence on a multitude of public platforms.
As our social media executive you will create exciting content, analyse feedback and report on the uptake and effect your work is having on growing our following and name within the key market places we operate within.
You will find an excellent balance between the creation of frequent and business updates and compelling content, whilst maintaining our customers’ interests and engagement ensuring content is posted at the best times to capture interest across a growing social followers presence over various media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram to name a few).
You will get to travel across our various office locations to interact with our industry leading technology and project teams, capturing progress of developments and social media worthy news to ensure our customer (both present and future) are fully aware of what we are working on to bring added value to their organisations.
Responsibilities
We work in an exciting and dynamic environment where every day is likely to be a little different but here are some of the main responsibilities you will have in the role:
- Create written content, articles, videos and animations that are in line with our customer tone of voice, company persona and drive a call to action by the reader to explore our company further via website visit or lead generation.
- Optimise content for publication across various social media sites and platforms
- Schedule copy and release at optimal times for capturing customer engagement and interaction
- Collaborate with Public relations appointed agencies
- Find and build lasting relationships with industry leading multimedia videographers and multimedia designers
- Work closely with internal subject matter experts, marketing teams, graphic designers and stakeholders to ensure the most compelling media content creation.
- Monitor user engagement and feedback on posts whilst analysing and reporting effects of publications on follower numbers, website traffic and lead generation/opportunities.
- Maintain a secure database of media platform login credentials.
- Investigate the value of social media platforms and applications not yet within the companies use and present potential added value of joining/promoting our business through them.
- Maintain and monthly budget report and assist in annual spend forecasting.
About you & what you will bring
We’re looking for an experienced and talented Social Media Executive who has what it takes to make a real impact in this role. If you have experience in any of the following, we want to hear from you:
- Aptitude, willing to continue learning and a desire to succeed
- Degree level education or equivalent industry experience in marketing communication skills, creative writing, journalism or similar.
- Experience as a social media executive at a similar company or within a similar industry (desirable).
- Expert knowledge of social media sites and algorithms.
- Sound understanding of the process required to create, distribute, monitor and feedback the effect of paid content and social media campaigns.
- Ability to write compelling, attention-grabbing articles.
- Appreciation for innovative technology and ideas
- Ability to work occasional overtime to accommodate different time zones.
- Willing to travel between offices, trade shows and project locations to capture the best content possible

- Submit your application with your CV, showcasing your skills and experience against the skills listed in the job advert. There will be a couple of questions on elements that are important to the role.
- A short 20-minute phone screen with our HR partner. We will tell you more about our role, the team and business, and allow us to learn more about you, why you applied, and what you can bring to Vaarst. You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you have.
- CCAT Assessment – The Cognitive Criteria Aptitude test will include questions on verbal, numerical and spatial reasoning.
- A 1.5-hour interview with a couple of members of our team. This part of the process allows you to get a real feel for the work the team is doing and allows us to learn more about your skillsets. In the interview, we will talk about your previous experience in quality and testing. We’ll ask some questions around technologies we use, key skills for the role, and what we look for in a team member. Again, you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you have.
